How To Help Stop Your Teeth Staining Without The Use Of Chemicals

Most people’s teeth are not bright gleaming white naturally. They are slightly off white, this is normal. In fact, watching television over the past couple of years it seems that most actors and television presenters have the most unnaturally white teeth, that it looks abnormal or may be I am just jealous.

Your teeth, however, may be stained for a number of reasons and you many not be on a television personality’s wage to have your teeth look like they are radio-active. Here are some steps you can take that may reduce staining and improve your smile.

1. Try to drink less tea, that’s not an easy one for me because I love my tea, however, the tannic acid contained in tea can stain your teeth. You may have noticed how stained your teacups get. Many foods with dark colors can also have a marked effect on teeth staining, so if you have to eat them or drink copious amounts of tea then clean your teeth after eating or drinking.

2. A good habit to get into is have a good rinse after meals, at the very least. Better still clean your teeth properly if you can. Rinsing will stop food and sugary drinks sticking to your tooth enamel causing staining and if left unchecked, tooth decay.

3. Adopt a strict oral hygiene routine. Brush your teeth at least twice a day and also after every meal. Some over the counter tooth pastes have whitening properties that may help prevent staining.

4. You may be on a medication that could cause discoloring of your teeth. Consult your doctor or dentist for advice on any preventative measures you can take.

Providing you stick to your oral hygiene routine and visit your dentist regularly you will give your teeth the best chance to stay as white as is naturally possible. Unless you are particularly affected by the color of your teeth just love them for what they are or you may have to consider going down the chemical road.
